Qualifying Questions:

Summary:
Defines and maintains material specifications, process controls, and acceptance criteria for metals, metal alloys, coatings, heat treatments, and joining processes including welding, brazing, adhesive bonding, and mechanical joining.
Investigates production failures, conducts root cause analysis, and implements corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for materials and processes.
Plans and executes metallurgical testing and characterization including microstructure analysis, hardness, tensile testing, fracture toughness, corrosion testing, and non-destructive inspection (NDI) techniques.
Reviews supplier material certifications and test reports for compliance with specifications.
Maintains materials and process data, generates technical reports, and presents findings to stakeholders.
Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage deployment of materials, parts, and processes.
Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements.
Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements for materials and processes.
Conducts analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts, or processes.
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements for materials and processes engineering tasks.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited course.
2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor's, or work-related experience with a Master's.
2+ years of engineering experience in the Aerospace industry.
Experience defining and maintaining material specifications and process controls for metals, alloys, coatings, heat treatments, and joining processes.
Experience investigating production failures, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Experience planning and executing metallurgical testing including microstructure analysis, hardness, tensile testing, fracture toughness, corrosion testing, and NDI techniques.
Experience reviewing supplier material certifications and test reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
Preferred: Experience working in a metallurgical laboratory environment and experience with project management and leading cross-functional teams.
