Are you a skilled hands-on technician who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and quality? PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician to support a leader in the aerospace industry. In this role, you’ll help build, maintain, and test complex aircraft structures, components, and laboratory test equipment that support the development of next-generation aerospace solutions.
Your expertise in fabrication, assembly, and aircraft structures will directly contribute to safe, innovative, and reliable aerospace programs.
What You'll Do
As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will support experimental testing and fabrication activities by:
Fabricating, assembling, inspecting, and repairing complex test articles, aircraft components, and structural specimens.
Performing sheet metal layout, cutting, bending, forming, drilling, and installation activities.
Building and maintaining test lab fixtures, equipment, and large structural elements.
Assisting with experimental, structural, and flammability test executions.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Using hand tools, shop equipment, and fabrication tools to complete assigned work.
Supporting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrumentation-related activities as needed.
Ensuring all work meets quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
Maintaining clean and organized work areas using 6S and Lean principles.
Communicating project status, challenges, and support needs with supervisors and test engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Two (2) years of experience in aviation, manufacturing, electronics, or a related technical field.
Experience using basic hand tools and shop equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Basic math skills and ability to perform shop calculations.
Experience with sheet metal fabrication, aircraft maintenance, inspection, repair, or hydraulic installations.
Ability to operate tools and equipment used for sheet metal installation and fabrication.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work any shift, climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2)–five (5) years of sheet metal, aircraft maintenance, or fabrication experience.
Experience with:
Cutting, bending, forming, and drilling sheet metal.
Aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair.
Hydraulic installations and assembly.
Aerospace test laboratory operations.
Experience with CAD packages and planning systems.
Familiarity with Solumina, CATIA, or SmartTeam.
Experience using adhesives, sealants, solvents, and aircraft-specific materials.
Knowledge of experimental test material tracking systems.
