Chipton-Ross is seeking a Designer 3 for a contract opportunity in Pascagoula, MS.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience -or- Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. • Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. • Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. • Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • Seeking an individual with a background in Electrical Design and who is proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word. • A basic understanding of ship design practices and blueprint reading skills is required. • Applicant will be directly involved in electrical design and development of drawings associated with ship modification and overhauls. • Applicant will be responsible for following applicable drawings procedures and standards. • Applicant will also be responsible for locating, interpreting and applying government and vendor-furnished information and technical data into during development of functional electrical design drawings. • Travel to numerous Naval Bases will be required to support pier side shipchecking and surveys. • Familiarity with US Navy Power Interior Communication, and Control Systems is preferred. • One that possess an understanding in ship design (CG, LPD, LHA/LHD & LCS) and blueprint reading.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED is required. School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS: Full-Time 5/40, workweek 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift.
