PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry to find a Buyer/Planner in Tucson, AZ who will play a vital role in ensuring aircraft parts and materials are available when they're needed most.
In this position, you'll help keep aircraft flying by coordinating the timely procurement of critical materials, managing inventory priorities, and collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams. What You'll Do
As a Buyer/Planner, you'll be a key member of the supply chain team, ensuring the right parts are available at the right time to support aircraft maintenance and delivery schedules. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Plan, forecast, and coordinate the acquisition of parts and materials required to support customer aircraft.
Source and purchase materials, tools, and components through internal and external suppliers.
Monitor and expedite purchase orders and material deliveries to minimize shortages and delays.
Identify critical material needs, establish priorities, and manage scheduling to support operational goals.
Maintain shortage reports and communicate order status and potential risks to management.
Collaborate with supervisors, managers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve critical material issues.
Create and issue internal orders and supporting documentation to meet production and maintenance requirements.
Review and resolve discrepant orders, exception messages, and inventory issues, including order cancellations when appropriate.
Create new part numbers for site-specific components and coordinate requests with internal suppliers.
Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized inventory management systems and manual documentation.
Determine priority items to ensure on-time delivery and material availability.
Order and replenish materials, tools, and ground support equipment to support aircraft delivery schedules.
Research and identify alternate or superseded part numbers to maintain continuity of supply.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Typically 3+ years of experience in aviation, materials management, parts procurement, or an equivalent supply chain environment.
Strong planning, organization, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across departments and with suppliers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of experience in inventory planning and procurement.
APICS Certification (or equivalent supply chain certification).
Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Business, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience supporting aerospace or aviation operations.
