Senior Field Technician - Baltimore, MD

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm 

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global telecommunications innovator that is transforming how people, businesses, and entire cities connect. As a Senior Field Technician, you won’t just Install equipment —you’ll help shape the future of tomorrow’s gigabit networks. 

Note: This is NOT an IT/Desktop Support/Cybersecurity Position

 What You’ll Do 

You’ll be the trusted expert on the ground, ensuring networks are built with precision and perform at their peak. 

Your day-to-day impact includes: 

• Installing, commissioning, and maintaining telecom switching equipment and infrastructure (fiber & copper) in real-world environments. 

• Conducting detailed Datacenter and PoP audits—equipment, ports, cabling, connectivity. 

• Performing advanced troubleshooting, fault isolation, and validation of optical fiber systems. 

• Executing insertion loss, OTDR, BER, and other key network performance tests. 

  Required Skills & Experience

• Equipment & port auditing 

• Fiber & cable tracing 

• Fiber traffic identifier tests 

• Visual Fault Locator use 

• Rack & equipment installation (active + passive) 

• PDU installation 

• CATx & fiber cabling 

• DC & AC power termination 

• Copper cable terminations 

• Software updates & equipment configuration 

• Standalone equipment testing 

• Insertion loss, OTDR, and BER testing 

• Solid fault-finding abilities 

Preferred Skills (Boost Your Candidacy) 

• Wavelength adds & balancing 

• Signal-to-noise ratio testing 

• CD/PMD testing 

• Use of OSA 

• DWDM link/span build, test & commissioning
