As an Engineering Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in developing the tooling, fixtures, jigs, dies, gauges, and specialized equipment that support advanced aerospace manufacturing and assembly. Working alongside manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams, you'll help deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that enable groundbreaking aerospace technologies.

What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
Design industrial tooling, fixtures, machine attachments, dies, gauges, drill and assembly jigs, and support equipment for new and existing aerospace programs.
Develop tooling concepts, engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans.
Create layouts for complex assemblies and detailed structural components.
Review designs to ensure manufacturability, fit, form, function, quality, and compliance with engineering standards.
Verify drawing accuracy, completeness, dimensional integrity, and adherence to drafting standards, specifications, and fabrication requirements.
Identify design improvements, resolve engineering issues, and recommend revisions to optimize performance and manufacturability.
Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, process engineering, vendors, and design review teams to meet program quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Manage tooling projects from concept through procurement, fabrication, and implementation.
Support tooling vendors during fabrication and inspect completed tooling for drawing compliance.
Identify and mitigate safety risks while ensuring compliance with company, industry, and government standards.
Participate in root cause investigations, non-conformance resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
Experience using NX CAD and CATIA.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes, and machine shop practices.
Experience reviewing engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensional integrity, materials, processes, and manufacturability.
Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
Knowledge of engineering drawing weld symbols.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, project management, and time management abilities.
Exceptional attention to technical detail.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Experience designing and fabricating special tooling and support equipment.
Experience developing tooling for composite part manufacturing.
Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
Experience evaluating tooling vendors and aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
Experience developing tooling Statements of Work (SOWs) and design estimates.
Experience performing stress analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance with a current investigation or periodic review within the past five years.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
