PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire an Electronic Technician for a full-time, 6-month consultant opportunity in Vandenberg AFB, California.
This is more than a technician role—it's an opportunity to contribute to the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of advanced interceptor and space launch vehicle systems. As a member of the Integration & Test (I&T) team, you'll play a vital role in supporting the development, testing, and verification of sophisticated electronic and electro-mechanical systems. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring mission-critical systems perform reliably and meet demanding engineering specifications.
Working alongside engineers and technical specialists, you'll help bring cutting-edge aerospace technologies from concept to reality.
What You'll Do
Testing & Troubleshooting
Perform testing, checkout, fault isolation, and troubleshooting of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
Conduct operational testing to verify compliance with engineering and design requirements.
Diagnose system malfunctions down to the component level.
Collect, document, and report test results to engineering teams.
Electronic Assembly & Development Support
Assist in the fabrication, modification, assembly, and integration of developmental hardware and prototype systems.
Support engineering development activities involving analog, digital, and video circuitry.
Perform environmental testing and system validation activities.
Technical Analysis
Interpret and work from:
Electronic schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings
Layouts
Written and verbal instructions
Verify system functionality and identify corrective actions when required.
Utilize Advanced Test Equipment
Operate and maintain various electronic diagnostic tools, including:
Oscilloscopes
Digital Multimeters (DMM)
Volt-Ohm Meters (VOM)
Signal Generators
Power Supplies
Other specialized test equipment
Team Collaboration
Partner with engineers and technicians to support project milestones and testing objectives.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance technical environment.
Required Qualifications
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience in electronics, avionics, or a related technical field
OR
Completion of a formal electronics training program (technical school, military electronics training, etc.)
OR
Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret:
Electronic schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings
Work instructions
Experience using electronic test equipment, including:
Digital Multimeters (DMM)
Oscilloscopes
Signal Generators
Power Supplies
Basic soldering and rework experience involving through-hole and/or surface-mount components
Familiarity with:
PCB assemblies
Harnesses
Electronic components
Work Experience
Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, or supporting electronic systems and assemblies
Experience working in:
Production environments
Engineering labs
Depot maintenance facilities
Field service operations
Computer Skills
Proficiency with email, office applications, and data entry systems
Ability to document results and complete electronic travelers or work instructions accurately
Professional Skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift up to approximately 25–35 pounds
Ability to safely use hand and small power tools
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace, aviation, defense, launch vehicle, or military electronics experience
Willingness to work overtime, alternate shifts, or weekends as needed
Experience supporting engineering development and integration testing activities

Pay Details: $102.82 per hour
