PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading innovator in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire a CAD CAM Engineer for a 12-month full-time consultant opportunity in Chandler, Arizona.



This is your chance to play a critical role in developing and validating complex mechanical designs that support advanced aerospace systems. As a key contributor within the Mechanical & Energetics organization, you'll work with cutting-edge design tools, collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and ensure products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and manufacturability.

  • Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12-Month Assignment)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9/80 Schedule
  • Pay Rate: $69.74 per hour



Contract-to-Hire Potential: This position is intended to be contract-to-hire. While conversion is not guaranteed, the role aligns with a full-time Engineering Design 4 position.






Your Impact



As a CAD CAM Engineer, you'll serve as a critical technical resource responsible for reviewing, validating, and refining engineering design packages while ensuring compliance with aerospace, military, and industry standards. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality designs that are functional, manufacturable, cost-effective, and ready for production.



You'll be a trusted authority in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), helping resolve drawing interpretations while collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.





What You'll Do



Engineering Design & Verification




  • Review engineering drawings and design packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Verify dimensions, materials, tolerances, hardware selections, and assembly fit requirements.
  • Analyze designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and fabrication efficiency.
  • Review tolerance stack-ups and provide recommendations to improve product performance and producibility.


CAD Modeling & Drawing Development




  • Create and revise fully defined 3D models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
  • Develop and update parametric drawings in accordance with ASME modeling and drawing standards.
  • Validate 3D models released to manufacturing through Teamcenter-managed processes.
  • Ensure engineering documentation accurately supports manufacturing requirements.


Collaboration & Technical Leadership




  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to resolve design-related challenges.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for GD&T interpretation and application.
  • Support vendor interactions related to design clarification and manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and, when requested, assist in directing the activities of support staff.


Quality & Compliance




  • Ensure designs comply with aerospace, military, and company standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations.




Required Qualifications




  • Strong experience working with:

    • Siemens NX
    • Teamcenter
    • Mechanical design and drafting processes


  • Expertise in interpreting and reviewing engineering drawings and assemblies.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience creating and revising parametric 3D models and drawings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Proficiency with:

    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Windows-based software environments


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Aerospace, aviation, defense, or military industry experience.
  • Experience reviewing complex assemblies and tolerance analyses.
  • Familiarity with ASME drawing and modeling standards.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing and quality organizations.
  • Supplier or vendor collaboration experience.
  • Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering change processes.

Pay Details: $69.74 per hour
