PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading innovator in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire an Electronic Technician 2 for a full-time, 6-month consultant opportunity at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with advanced interceptor and space launch vehicle systems, performing testing, troubleshooting, and integration activities that directly support groundbreaking aerospace and defense missions. As an Electronic Technician, you'll play a critical role within the Integration & Test (I&T) organization, supporting the development, testing, and validation of sophisticated electronic and electro-mechanical systems. Your expertise will help ensure critical technologies perform reliably and meet stringent engineering and operational requirements.
Working alongside engineers and technical specialists, you'll contribute to projects that support some of the most advanced aerospace and defense programs in the industry.
What You'll Do
Testing & Troubleshooting
Perform routine testing, checkout, and troubleshooting of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
Conduct operational tests and fault isolation activities to verify compliance with design specifications.
Diagnose and resolve electronic malfunctions down to the component level.
Collect and document test data to support engineering evaluations.
System Assembly & Modification
Support fabrication, assembly, modification, and integration of prototype and developmental electronic systems.
Build and verify electronic assemblies, harnesses, and subsystem components.
Assist with environmental testing and development-related engineering activities.
Technical Analysis
Interpret and work from:
Electronic schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings
Layouts
Written and verbal work instructions
Verify system functionality and identify areas requiring corrective action.
Test Equipment Operation
Utilize a variety of diagnostic and development tools, including:
Oscilloscopes
Digital Voltmeters (DVM)
Volt-Ohm Meters (VOM)
Signal Generators
Power Supplies
Other electronic test equipment
Team Collaboration
Work closely with engineers, technicians, and program teams to support project objectives.
Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout testing and development activities.
Follow established procedures while contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused work environment.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of experience in electronics, avionics, or a related field
OR
Completion of a formal electronics training program (technical school, military electronics training, etc.)
OR
Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret:
Electronic schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings
Work instructions
Experience using electronic test equipment such as:
Digital Multimeters (DMM)
Oscilloscopes
Signal Generators
Power Supplies
Basic soldering and rework experience, including through-hole and/or surface-mount components
Familiarity with:
PCB assemblies
Wiring harnesses
Electronic components
Work Experience
Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, or modifying electronic systems or assemblies
Experience working in a production, laboratory, depot, or field service environment
Computer Skills
Proficiency with basic office and computer applications
Ability to enter and maintain testing data and documentation
Experience following electronic travelers and work instructions
Professional Skills
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift up to approximately 25–35 pounds
Ability to safely use hand tools and small power tools
Preferred Qualifications
Willingness to work overtime, alternate shifts, or weekends as business needs require
Ability to obtain a security clearance if the position is extended or converted
Previous aerospace, aviation, defense, military, or launch systems experience
Experience supporting engineering development and integration testing activities

Pay Details: $77.92 per hour
