Senior Project Engineering Manager
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Project Manager III / Senior Project Engineering Manager to support a global leader in the energy industry. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (Flexible start times between 7:00 AM–9:00 AM)
Pay Rate: $66.42/hr
This is more than a traditional project management position. As a Senior Project Engineering Manager, you will serve as the technical leader responsible for driving the engineering execution of complex energy projects from contract award through completion.
You'll lead cross-functional engineering teams, collaborate with global stakeholders, manage technical risks, oversee engineering budgets, and serve as the primary technical interface for customers. Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale power generation and Balance of Plant (BOP) projects that support critical energy infrastructure around the world.
This role offers the opportunity to work on multiple high-impact projects while partnering with teams across North America and global engineering hubs.
Lead the engineering execution of Balance of Plant (BOP) projects from contract signature through project closeout.
Develop project engineering plans, schedules, and execution strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
Serve as the primary technical leader and customer-facing engineering representative throughout project execution.
Manage and coordinate matrixed engineering teams across multiple disciplines and global locations.
Review customer specifications and translate contractual requirements into actionable engineering deliverables.
Collaborate closely with project management, sourcing, logistics, quality, scheduling, contract management, sales, and service organizations.
Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, schedule, and commercial project risks.
Evaluate and manage customer-requested scope changes, including schedule and financial impacts.
Support engineering, sourcing, vendor, and installation teams to ensure compliance with customer and project requirements.
Drive project profitability while maintaining technical quality and customer satisfaction.
Lead issue resolution efforts and facilitate cross-functional decision-making.
Capture lessons learned and continuously improve engineering processes and project execution practices.
Participate in customer and EPC meetings as the project's technical leader.
Manage engineering budgets and support overall project financial performance.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or another related STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum 6+ years of progressive engineering or project engineering experience within an industrial, manufacturing, power generation, energy, or related technical environment.
Experience leading technical projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
Strong understanding of project execution, technical risk management, and engineering deliverables.
Proven customer-facing experience with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Experience within the power generation, energy, utilities, or industrial infrastructure sectors.
Previous experience as a Project Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
Familiarity with turbo machinery, generators, power plant systems, controls, or auxiliary equipment.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, codes, and compliance requirements.
Expertise in a technical discipline such as:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Process Engineering
Experience leading matrixed teams in a global organization.
Prior experience with large EPC, industrial, or energy-related projects.
Familiarity with enterprise engineering and project management systems.
Previous experience supporting projects with Balance of Plant (BOP) scope.
