Pay Rate: Up to $90/hour (Based on Experience)
PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineering IV – Propulsion Mechanical Engineer to support a world-class leader in transportation technology, equipment, systems, and digital solutions. As a key contributor within the engineering organization, you will:
Design, analyze, test, and support components, assemblies, and systems for propulsion applications involving rotating electric machines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions that meet program requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.
Execute engineering analyses, designs, testing activities, and system integration efforts with guidance from senior engineering leaders.
Prepare and present technical data, findings, and recommendations during design reviews and stakeholder meetings.
Support product development initiatives by working with global engineering teams on strategic projects and innovation efforts.
Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including:
Design review materials
Purchase specifications
Engineering reports
Technical presentations and visuals
Meeting documentation
Provide manufacturing and factory support to address technical challenges and improve product performance.
Support product reliability initiatives and laboratory testing activities.
Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
Apply engineering principles and sound judgment to resolve technical issues and achieve project milestones.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a related field.
Ability to work onsite in the Erie, PA area throughout the assignment.
Foundational knowledge of electric machine design principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work within established engineering processes and standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidates with the following experience will stand out:
Strong understanding of electrical machine theory and applications.
Expertise in GD&T, drawing release processes, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Experience with engineering design, testing, and analysis tools.
Proficiency with simulation and analysis software such as Ansys or equivalent for:
Stress Analysis
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Vibration Analysis
Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies, DFMEAs, and reliability engineering practices.
Strong technical aptitude and systems-thinking mindset.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
Experience working in manufacturing, transportation, industrial, or propulsion-related industries.
Strong PC and engineering software proficiency.
