Location: Indianapolis, IN | Payrate: $37/hour | Schedule: 2nd shift, 5pm to 3:30am
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the HVAC manufacturing industry to hire a Manufacturing Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. What You'll Do
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be a key technical resource supporting production, equipment reliability, and process improvement. You'll spend a significant portion of your time on the production floor, working alongside operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Design and plan manufacturing layouts for assembly operations, material handling, and production workflows.
Adapt machinery, equipment, and tooling designs to meet manufacturing and production requirements.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and operational procedures that enhance product quality and performance.
Respond quickly to equipment failures, production issues, and plant emergencies, serving as the technical expert to restore operations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Troubleshoot equipment and tooling issues while providing technical support to maintenance, tooling, and production teams.
Recommend, develop, and implement preventive maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee equipment repairs, modifications, upgrades, and tooling improvements.
Verify equipment is fully operational and safely released back into production following maintenance activities.
Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives that increase production output, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste.
Utilize maintenance management systems, tooling management software, purchase order systems, and production planning tools to support manufacturing operations.
Identify and implement improvements that reduce costs, improve product quality, enhance workplace safety, and create ergonomic solutions for production teams.
Champion OSHA regulations along with environmental, health, and safety initiatives to maintain a safe manufacturing environment.
Foster positive working relationships with union representatives while ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a production environment.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for manufacturing equipment and tooling.
Experience with manufacturing process improvement and equipment optimization.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and equipment reliability.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond to production priorities.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Controls or automation experience, including exposure to PLCs or manufacturing control systems.
Experience in HVAC, appliance, automotive, or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma experience.
Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with CMMS, tooling management systems, ERP, or production planning software.
