Job Type: Full-Time Consultant Contract
Location: Wichita, KS
Pay Rate: $44–$48 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, primarily 2nd shift (flexibility required for any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed)
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading name in the aviation industry to find a highly skilled Skin Quality Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the structural integrity, finish, and performance of advanced aircraft components. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail will directly contribute to the safety and excellence of aviation products.
As a Skin Quality Specialist, you will work hands-on with aircraft structures and components, ensuring they meet strict engineering and quality standards:
Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete structural and system components using technical drawings and specifications
Perform functional testing and ensure proper fit, form, and function of assemblies
Execute hand finishing tasks, including blending and polishing surfaces to precise engineering tolerances
Conduct repairs, including drilling and disassembly for part access
Apply protective coatings and perform metal polishing and finishing processes
Use precision measuring and testing equipment to verify quality and compliance
Identify discrepancies and follow procedures to resolve issues
Support product flow within manufacturing, including moving materials and completing required transactions
Maintain tools and equipment, including basic preventive maintenance duties
Assist with cross-training and mentoring team members across various skill levels
Work within production schedules to meet deadlines and quality targets
5+ years of experience in skin quality, including hand forming, burnishing, and repair
Strong experience in aircraft finishing processes (protective coatings, polishing, isoscope usage, etc.)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and engineering specifications
Skilled in precision measuring tools and shop mathematics
Ability to stand and work for extended periods (full 8-hour shifts)
Flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
Ability to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance
Experience with advanced inspection and certification processes
Cross-functional manufacturing experience (assembly, installation, structures, sealing)
Previous experience training or mentoring team members
