PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry to find a talented Structural & Payload Design Engineer to support one of the most prestigious aircraft modification programs in the world.
In this highly visible role, you'll serve as a critical engineering liaison, ensuring design intent is successfully translated into production while helping drive the modernization of a world-class aircraft platform. Your expertise will directly impact aircraft quality, build efficiency, and mission success.
What You'll Do
As a Structural & Payload Design Engineer, you'll be at the center of engineering, manufacturing, and production operations, helping teams navigate technical challenges and maintain alignment with design requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the Design Engineering organization by interpreting engineering drawings and clarifying engineering intent for mechanics, operations leaders, manufacturing, industrial engineering, quality, and program management teams.
Drive cross-functional engineering integration throughout the development, modification, testing, and production phases of the VC-25B aircraft modification program.
Monitor aircraft build activities to ensure compliance with design intent and recommend technical solutions when production sequencing adjustments are required.
Support engineering drawing revisions and updates in response to production needs and build challenges.
Provide engineering guidance and technical clarification to mechanics and production teams.
Evaluate and support change integration activities and perform impact assessments for aircraft modifications.
Communicate engineering priorities across assigned work zones to ensure efficient execution.
Lead investigations into technical, operational, and quality issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders to improve build processes, reduce production disruptions, and maintain program schedules.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited institution (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in product engineering or production operations.
Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting military or commercial aerospace programs.
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and communicate technical information across multiple disciplines.
Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of related engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Active Secret Security Clearance.
2+ years of Shipside Engineering Support experience.
Experience supporting aircraft modification, integration, or production environments.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within highly regulated industries.
