PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading organization in the energy industry to hire an experienced Assistant Electrical Detailer to support critical Transmission & Distribution (T&D) substation projects. In this role, you'll contribute to the design and development of electrical infrastructure serving major utility clients, including Xcel Energy, helping deliver reliable power to homes, businesses, and communities.

What You'll Do
As an Assistant Electrical Detailer, you will provide high-quality drafting and detailing support for electrical substation projects within the electric utility industry. Working closely with engineering and project teams, you'll help transform design concepts into accurate construction-ready documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, revise, and maintain detailed electrical substation design drawings and construction documents.
Develop layouts and detailed plans for substation equipment, grounding systems, conduit systems, and electrical installations.
Create and modify drawings in accordance with client standards, project specifications, and industry regulations.
Utilize AutoCAD and MicroStation CONNECT to produce accurate and high-quality design deliverables.
Coordinate with engineers and project stakeholders to incorporate design updates and project changes.
Perform quality control reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with utility standards.
Support multiple utility projects while maintaining attention to detail and meeting project deadlines.
Contribute to the successful execution of transmission and distribution infrastructure projects.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Drafting Technology or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in electrical utility design related to electrical substation systems, OR
Associate Degree in Drafting Technology or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical utility design related to electrical substation systems, OR
High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical utility design related to electrical substation systems.
Additional Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in the electric utility industry with a strong emphasis on electrical substation design.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation CONNECT (MicroStation experience must be clearly reflected on your resume).
Experience creating detailed drawings for substation equipment, layouts, grounding systems, conduit systems, and electrical plans.
Strong understanding of utility standards, drafting best practices, and quality control procedures.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively within project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in Drafting Technology or a related discipline.
Experience supporting major utility clients and transmission and distribution projects.
Knowledge of industry drafting standards and utility design practices.
Experience with 3D design software such as Revit, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, and/or Civil 3D.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven project environment.
