PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer to hire a skilled Avionics Retrofit Technician who is passionate about precision, technology, and aircraft performance.
In this role, you'll play a critical part in the assembly, installation, modification, and repair of advanced avionics systems on aircraft and helicopters. Your expertise will help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of aircraft that support missions around the world.
What You'll Do
As an Avionics Retrofit Aircraft Technician , you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge aircraft systems, supporting production, maintenance, and retrofit programs.
Key Responsibilities
Production Assembly (70%)
Assemble, install, repair, and replace aircraft electrical and electronic components and systems.
Install electrical harnesses and subassemblies by performing activities such as:
Wire and coax cable identification
Clamping and bundling
Routing and mounting
Stripping and splicing
Soldering and termination
Ensure all installations are completed without compromising aircraft structure, safety, or system functionality.
Perform avionics modifications, repairs, and retrofit activities on aircraft and helicopter platforms.
Fabricate and repair aircraft parts according to engineering and manufacturing requirements.
Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, service manuals, vendor documentation, and technical specifications.
Utilize specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring instruments, and testing devices to complete assignments accurately and efficiently.
Support helicopter-specific maintenance and upgrade programs.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Minimum of four (4) years of avionics experience working on aircraft, preferably rotorcraft/helicopters.
Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical documentation.
Experience performing avionics installations, modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and electronic components.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Rotorcraft or helicopter maintenance and retrofit experience.
Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or aircraft production environments.
Familiarity with FAA regulations, aerospace quality standards, and avionics testing procedures.
Technical training, military aviation experience, or relevant avionics certifications.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Primarily onsite work environment (approximately 95% onsite).
Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs. (14 kg).
Ability to work throughout office, hangar, and production floor environments.
Ability to read technical documentation, engineering drawings, and computer screens.
Ability to travel independently on occasion and with limited notice.
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:
Safety shoes/steel-toed footwear
Safety glasses
Hearing protection
Respirators or masks
