Software Engineer

Description:
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Engineer IV for a remote contract opportunity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
• 4+ years of experience with ServiceNow configuration, customization, scripting, and development.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Excellent technical skills, including: ServiceNow scripting (e.g., Business Rules, Client Scripts, Flow Designer), ServiceNow configuration (e.g., tables, fields, forms).
• Strong experience with ServiceNow ITSM, particularly Change and Release Management.
• Demonstrated experience supporting sustainment and enhancement of enterprise ServiceNow implementations.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and Python.
• Experience with REST and SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and system integrations.
• Hands-on experience with Flow Designer, Script Includes, Business Rules, and Service Catalog development.
• Knowledge of CMDB and Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
• Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated organization skills to successfully track, manage, and report on the status of a wide variety of deliverables in an agile environment.
• This role is critical to maintaining and advancing enterprise ServiceNow capabilities that support ITSM and digital product delivery. The successful candidate will drive automation, improve release governance, and implement innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced remote-work environment.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Develop and maintain custom applications, workflows/flows, APIs and other capabilities as needed/assigned.
•Develop and maintain unit tests as part of development cycle.
•Maintain Knowledge Articles as associated with functionality and as assigned.
•Collaborate on the development and implementation of enhancements to ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, DPR, and others.
•Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
•Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user guides.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
• ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
• ServiceNow ITSM Implementation Specialist.
• Familiarity with AI capabilities such as ServiceNow Predictive Intelligence, Virtual Agent, and GenAI.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with CI/CD pipelines and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Prior experience supporting federal government or highly regulated environments.
