As a Mechanical System Analyst, you will support Spares Engineering Design providing innovative engineering solutions for obsolete and aging aircraft components. Your expertise will help extend the life cycle of aircraft systems while maintaining compliance, safety, and performance standards across essential mechanical systems.
Job Type: Full-Time | Consultant (12 Months)
Location: Long Beach, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (First Shift)
Pay: $55.00 - $69.00 per hour
Perform mechanical system design and analysis across key aircraft systems, including:
Environmental Control Systems (ATA 21)
Cabin pressure control and ventilation
Equipment cooling and nitrogen generating systems
Cargo fire protection (ATA 26)
Ice and rain protection systems (ATA 30)
Pneumatics and oxygen systems
Develop engineering solutions for obsolescence, ensuring system reliability and compliance
Review and approve technical analyses and engineering documentation
Collaborate with project engineers, stress teams, materials (M&P), suppliers, and procurement
Guide and mentor junior engineers, supporting team development and performance
Present technical findings and solutions to internal teams and external stakeholders
Interpret and apply industry standards, company processes, and certification requirements
Use advanced tools such as CATIA V5, ENOVIA, PDM, STEALTH, QMAP, REDARS, ETAC, ESPEC, and Bridge
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency
Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure all engineering requirements are met
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
8+ years of experience in aircraft Environmental Control Systems and related disciplines
5+ years of experience in a commercial aircraft environment
Strong knowledge of:
Fluid mechanics (compressible and incompressible)
Aircraft system design and analysis (ATA 21, 26, 30, 36, Oxygen systems)
Experience with design release processes, certification, and supplier-driven changes
Proficiency in 2D/3D design and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Reliable attendance and ability to work onsite
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
10+ years of Design Engineering experience in commercial aviation
Experience with 7-series or Douglas aircraft programs
Background in production, sub-components, or spares engineering
Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments
Familiarity with advanced aerospace design and data management tools
