About the Role
As a Digital Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and verifying advanced FPGA-based systems that support next-generation communications and defense technologies. Working in a collaborative, high-performing environment, you’ll help deliver mission-critical solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible in aviation and national security.
Position Details
Job Type: Full-Time Contract (12 Months)
Location: Hybrid – San Diego, CA 92128
Schedule: Monday–Friday (9x80 schedule)
Pay Rate: $105.00 per hour
Experience Level: 5–12+ years
What You’ll Do
Lead and mentor a team of 2–4 VHDL verification engineers
Define and maintain digital logic verification frameworks and architectures for software-defined radio systems
Develop and execute comprehensive verification plans based on design requirements
Simulate and validate FPGA logic designs and system functionality
Troubleshoot simulation failures, identify root causes, and collaborate on solutions
Perform regression testing and produce verification metrics and reports
Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (5–7 engineers total)
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Experience with VHDL design and verification methodologies for DoD communications systems
Background in FPGA product lifecycle development (requirements through production release)
Proven ability in technical task management, scheduling, and forecasting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
Experience developing verification plans, test benches, and functional models
Proficiency with Siemens Questa Simulator
Excellent communication skills across technical and program teams
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Security Clearance
Experience leading teams with varying skill levels
Knowledge of cost management and metrics reporting
Experience with OSVVM functional verification methodology
Scripting experience in Linux environments (Perl, TCL, Bash, Makefile)
Familiarity with Siemens tools (Lint, Inspect, CDC)
Eligibility for special access program clearances

Pay Details: $105.00 per hour
