Dimension Control Technician
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with an industry-leading aerospace organization to hire a Dimension Control Technician in El Segundo, CA. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, alignment, and integrity of complex tooling and assemblies used in aircraft production. Your expertise in measurement, fabrication, and metrology will directly support quality, safety, and performance at the highest levels of aerospace engineering.
As a Dimension Control Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Laying out, fabricating, and assembling complex jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling systems
Working with compound angles and intricate contours that require exacting tolerances across multiple planes
Planning work sequences and determining methods from engineering drawings or self-developed designs
Operating optical and precision instruments to verify alignment, fit, and assembly integrity
Designing holding devices and tooling details to support manufacturing processes
Preparing shop drawings and operational instructions for fabrication and assembly teams
Monitoring and verifying quality through statistical process control and inspection procedures
Supporting tooling operations in both indoor shop and warehouse environments
Assisting with troubleshooting and repair of tooling and automated equipment (as needed)
Job Type: Full-Time Contract (12 Months; Contract-to-Hire Potential)
Location: El Segundo, CA 90245
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9x80 Work Schedule ; Must be able to work any shift.
Pay Rate: $35.93 per hour
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of relevant experience (tool building, machining, welding, laser tracking, or repair work)
Experience with Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar 3D CAD systems
Hands-on experience with fabrication tools and machines (saws, drills, mills, lathes)
Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds
Comfort working in shop floor and warehouse environments (indoor and outdoor)
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (including Special Access Programs)
Flexibility to work any shift as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment
Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems (e.g., E-Maint, Maximo)
Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and technical drawings
Experience with metrology processes and laser tracking
Background in tool and die or aircraft assembly environments
Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes (training provided)
Associate degree or additional technical training in a related field
