Job Title: Assembler (Solder Assembler)
Pay Rate: $23.00 - $26.00/HR

Shift: 2nd Shift (Mon–Thurs, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM EST)
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to hire a Solder Assembler in Clearwater, FL. This is a hands-on, detail-critical role supporting the assembly of advanced electronic components used in aviation systems where precision, quality, and reliability are essential.
As a Solder Assembler, you will be responsible for assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) that power mission-critical aviation electronics. Your work ensures that every component meets strict quality, reliability, and IPC compliance standards.
You will perform precision soldering, inspect assemblies for defects, and support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. Your craftsmanship directly impacts the performance and safety of advanced aviation systems used around the world.
This is a 2nd shift position (Mon–Thurs, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM EST) and cannot be moved to first shift.
Perform manual and selective soldering of electronic components including SMT, through-hole, BGA, QFN, CSP, and others
Assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) with a high level of precision and attention to detail
Conduct visual inspections using microscopes and AOI equipment to identify defects such as cold joints, bridging, tombstoning, and voids
Follow IPC standards including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-2221/2222 throughout the assembly process
Verify materials such as solder paste and flux meet required specifications
Work with mixed-technology boards (SMT and through-hole assemblies)
Support process improvement initiatives for soldering techniques, tooling, and work instructions
Maintain compliance with all safety procedures and proper PPE usage
Handle and lift materials up to 25 lbs. as needed
Follow all quality and production requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
High school diploma or GED required
1–2 years of hands-on solder assembly or electronics manufacturing experience
Strong knowledge of soldering processes and electronic assembly techniques
Ability to read and write in English
Experience working with general assembly or machine shop environments
Familiarity with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole components
Ability to use soldering tools such as irons, hot air rework stations, reflow ovens, and wave solder machines
Strong visual inspection skills with experience using microscopes or AOI equipment
Technical or vocational training in electronics assembly
Working knowledge of IPC standards (A-610, J-STD-001)
Experience with lead-free and RoHS-compliant processes
Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and yield analysis
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to recommend process improvements
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
