Aircraft Mechanic 3
Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple SCA Aircraft Mechanic 3's for a contract opportunity in Lake Charles, LA.
**Per Diem only offered to those candidates living outside a 50-mile radius of the work location**
**These positions are Service Contract Act positions. **
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 10 years relevant experience.
o Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours.
o Able to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel).
o Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions.
o Able to wear respirator or other safety gear.
o Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft systems components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty
o Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
o Have basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair
o Possess detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, etc. is required.
o Possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to mechanical engineers and customers alike
o Be able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions, etc.
o Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals
Job duties may also require that this mechanic:
o Possess a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems
o Adjusts, repairs, or replaces basic electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
o Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves, inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments
o Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction
o Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
o Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
o Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation
o Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
o Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts
o Have basic knowledge of electrical theory
o Be able to use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, etc.
o Be able to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors and other electrical components.
o Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft
o This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o A&P License.
o Prior large aircraft experience.
o Able to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma/GED is required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS:
4/10 work week. This position will be hired for any shift.
SCA Benefits:
HEALTH & WELFARE EO 13706: $4.93 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, or $197.20 per
week, or $854.53 per month*
*This rate is to be used only when compensating employees for performance on an SCA-
covered contract also covered by EO 13706, Establishing Paid Sick Leave for Federal
Contractors. A contractor may not receive credit toward its SCA obligations for any
paid sick leave provided pursuant to EO 13706.
1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours they work, up to 56 hours of paid
sick leave each year.
VACATION: 2 weeks paid vacation after 1 year of service with a contractor or
successor; 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 15 years, and 5 weeks after 20 years.
Length of service includes the whole span of continuous service with the present
contractor or successor, wherever employed, and with the predecessor contractors in
the performance of similar work at the same Federal facility. (Reg. 29 CFR 4.173)
HOLIDAYS: A minimum of eleven paid holidays per year: New Year's Day, Martin
Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth
National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans'
Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. (A contractor may substitute for any of
the named holidays another day off with pay in accordance with a plan communicated
to the employees involved.) (See 29 CFR 4.174)
