PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry to hire a highly skilled STC Electrical Systems Engineer to support advanced aircraft cabin upgrade and retrofit programs. In this role, you’ll support Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) cabin upgrade projects under JAR25/CS25/FAR25 requirements, leading critical electrical systems activities from initial customer requirements through final implementation and return-to-service support.
Your Working Environment
Based in Mobile, Alabama, the Engineering Center is home to hundreds of aerospace engineers supporting the design, development, reconfiguration, and upgrade of commercial aircraft cabins worldwide. You’ll collaborate with international teams in a highly technical and innovative engineering environment focused on excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Cabin Systems Engineering & Technical Deliverables (40%)
Represent the Electrical Systems team within multi-functional project teams
Develop and manage electrical deliverables including specifications, designs, substantiation documentation, and installation instructions
Create electrical system architectures and block diagrams for cabin upgrade projects
Validate wiring diagrams and ensure compliance with aircraft electrical integration standards
Write and/or approve technical notes, service bulletins, and engineering substantiation documents
Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support during working parties and installation activities
Support end-to-end project execution from customer requirements through aircraft return-to-service
Compliance & Certification Activities (30%)
Ensure all cabin electrical systems comply with applicable aerospace regulations and certification requirements
Support compliance with approved engineering processes, procedures, ethics, and quality standards
Contribute to on-time, on-budget project execution
Support certification activities related to electrical systems integration and modifications
Continuous Improvement & Innovation (25%)
Identify opportunities to improve engineering tools, processes, and procedures
Promote lean engineering methodologies and process simplification initiatives
Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement across projects and teams
Additional Responsibilities (5%)
Support quotation activities during proposal and offer phases
Assist with configuration management and technical publications activities as needed
Contribute to simple cabin design or mechanical design support when required
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
Experience
Minimum 6 years of experience within the aviation industry
Proven experience in aircraft cabin electrical systems engineering and development
Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical design, certification, and qualification processes
Required Technical Skills
Experience with embedded electrical systems engineering (ATA 23, 24, 25, 26, 33, 44)
Knowledge of cabin electrical systems architecture and substantiation
Experience with:
Safety Analysis
Electrical Load Analysis
EMI/EMC considerations
Ground Test Instructions
Knowledge of DO160 and DO178 equipment qualification standards
Familiarity with aircraft publications including AMM, AWM, IPC, and related technical manuals
Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and certification requirements
Communication & Collaboration Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams
Strong presentation, coordination, and relationship-building abilities
Highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of thriving in demanding project environments
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of EASA Part 21 (DOA/POA) and Part 145 requirements
Experience in technical project management
Configuration management experience
Previous experience supporting cabin retrofit or STC programs
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Hybrid schedule: 60% onsite / 40% remote
Ability to work within office and production environments
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
Ability to read engineering drawings and electronic systems daily
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
Ability to walk production areas and participate in onsite technical activities as required
