PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support a leading organization in the aviation and aerospace industry in Melbourne, Florida. This is a high-impact opportunity to join the Test Engineering team, where you will help design, develop, and maintain advanced manufacturing test solutions that support a $5B avionics portfolio used by airlines and armed services worldwide.

In this role, you won’t be limited to hardware or software alone—you’ll work across both domains to build, debug, and enhance complex automated test systems that ensure mission-critical avionics performance and reliability.


Role Summary & Impact

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and sustaining multi-rack automated test systems used to validate advanced avionics products. Your work directly supports manufacturing and service operations, ensuring aerospace systems meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and quality.

You will collaborate with global, multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges, reverse engineer existing systems, and enhance automated test capabilities using both hardware and software expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex hardware and software test solutions in manufacturing environments
  • Develop, debug, and support automated test software and procedures
  • Work closely with mechanical, systems, and electrical engineering teams to ensure integrated design success
  • Reverse engineer and document existing test equipment and systems
  • Review and validate automated test procedures and implement required software updates
  • Support and maintain multi-rack test stations using advanced lab equipment including:
    • Digital multimeters
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Network and spectrum analyzers
    • Logic analyzers
    • Power supplies and electronic loads
  • Support environmental test systems including thermal and vibration testing
  • Present technical updates to engineering peers, leadership, and stakeholders
  • Apply strong time management skills to multitask across concurrent engineering efforts
  • Maintain high standards for documentation, workflow, and engineering best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience (or 8–9 years in lieu of a degree)
  • Hands-on experience with both hardware and software development
  • LabVIEW and TestStand certification or formal training required
  • Experience working with automated test systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RF (Radio Frequency) devices and systems
  • Proficiency in software development (LabVIEW and/or C# preferred)
  • Familiarity with avionics systems or aerospace domain knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing test environments and engineering operations

  • Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (6 months, extension/possible temp-to-perm)
  • Location: Melbourne, FL (Onsite)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
  • Work Model: 9/80 schedule (A or B)
  • Pay Rate: $81.89 per hour

Pay Details: $81.89 per hour
