PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Engineer to support in-service aircraft repair programs. In this role, you will be responsible for developing high-quality fatigue and damage tolerance justifications for aircraft structural repairs. Working closely with design and static stress engineering teams, you’ll help deliver efficient, certified repair solutions that meet strict airworthiness requirements and support airline and MRO customers globally.
What You’ll Do
Repair Engineering & F&DT Analysis
Perform fatigue and damage tolerance analysis for metallic aircraft structures
Develop high-quality engineering justifications for structural repairs in a timely manner
Review and interpret aircraft structural damage reports from Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs)
Create or modify technical documentation including:
Technical Communications
Technical Dispositions
Repair Instructions
Repair Drawings
Use classical hand calculations and computer-based methods to assess structural integrity
Support development of efficient, certified repair solutions aligned with airworthiness requirements
Collaboration & Technical Integration
Work closely with Static Stress, Design, and other engineering teams to develop optimal repair solutions
Support integrated repair engineering teams across daily repair and major repair activities
Interface professionally with customers and suppliers regarding repair requirements and technical clarifications
Provide clear and concise guidance on routine repair queries within Operations and Customer Services
Execution, Prioritization & Improvement
Understand task priorities and manage workflow to meet customer timelines
Ensure all engineering activities are planned, monitored, and executed on schedule
Support continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies
Assist in preparing engineering deliverables using systems such as SAP and AirDoc
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering required
Experience
9+ years of engineering experience preferred in:
Airline
OEM
MRO environments
Strong background in aircraft structures, fatigue, materials, and structural repair engineering
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical manuals (SRM, SB, IPC, etc.)
Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance and repair practices
Experience with structural fatigue and damage tolerance methodologies
Ability to perform both analytical and computer-based engineering assessments
Professional Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate across global, multidisciplinary teams
High motivation, initiative, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers
Experience working in airline or MRO environments highly preferred
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally as needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Onsite role requiring at least 90% presence in the Wichita Engineering Office
Ability to work extensively on computers and engineering analysis tools
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings daily
Ability to sit for extended periods during analysis and documentation work
Ability to communicate in meetings, teleconferences, and engineering discussions daily
Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 30 lbs
Ability to walk, stand, and move through office and production environments as needed
Ability to travel on short notice when required
Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as required
