PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Principal Specialist – Buyer to support a leading organization in the aviation and aerospace industry. In this onsite role in Medley, Florida, you will play a critical part in ensuring materials and services are sourced, tracked, and delivered in alignment with high-priority program schedules.

This is a high-impact procurement role where precision, negotiation strength, and supplier management directly support mission-critical aviation programs.

Role Summary & Impact

As a Principal Specialist – Buyer, you will own a dedicated commodity portfolio and manage the full procurement lifecycle—from RFQ to purchase order closeout. Your work ensures suppliers meet cost, quality, and delivery commitments while supporting operational continuity across multiple aviation programs.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, quality, and program teams, acting as a key link between internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Your decisions will directly influence schedule adherence, cost performance, and supply chain resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end purchase order activities including supplier selection, RFQs, quote analysis, negotiation, PO issuance, and closeout
• Monitor open orders and proactively communicate delivery changes to program and operations teams
• Escalate and expedite supplier issues to ensure schedule alignment
• Perform pricing analysis and support fair-cost negotiations
• Identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with Supplier Quality and Engineering
• Maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Support high-volume procurement activity in a fast-paced environment
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and supplier performance reviews
• Utilize advanced Excel tools to manage large datasets and requisition lines
• Support compliance with procurement policies, standards, and KPI-driven goals

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
  Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience
• Minimum 2 years of direct buying/procurement experience
• Experience managing purchase orders and supplier coordination in a structured environment
• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with cross-functional teams (Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management)
• Strong proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Microsoft Word
• Advanced Excel skills for managing large datasets and requisition tracking
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Ability to develop risk mitigation strategies and solve procurement challenges
• Familiarity with supply chain KPIs such as on-time delivery and cost savings
• Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%
