What You’ll Do
As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will work hands-on in a laboratory and machining environment, collaborating closely with engineers and technical experts to support materials testing and characterization.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing materials test samples through machining, grinding, and polishing
Working with composite and carbon–carbon materials in both laboratory and shop environments
Performing materials characterization, including optical microscopy
Supporting testing related to environmental performance, friction, and wear
Interpreting engineering specifications and drawings to ensure accurate testing and reporting
Managing or supporting preventive maintenance and gauge calibration activities within a LIMS environment
Accurately documenting procedures, results, and observations in accordance with established work instructions and operating procedures
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support new products, processes, and testing standards
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience
Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures
Experience reading and interpreting engineering specifications and/or drawings
Basic knowledge of materials testing and sample preparation
Ability to lift light loads
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
Experience working with advanced composites or high-temperature materials
Familiarity with processes such as fiber preforms, CVD, heat treatment, densification, or friction and wear testing
Experience using statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab)
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute complex tasks with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
