Quality Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a results-driven Quality Engineer to support a leading organization in the aviation industry. Based onsite in Simpsonville, SC, this 6-month consultant role gives you the chance to influence critical aerospace programs by ensuring products, processes, and systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
As a Quality Engineer, you will partner with leadership, program teams, customers, and manufacturing stakeholders to implement proactive quality strategies that improve cost, schedule, and performance outcomes. Your expertise in root cause analysis, corrective actions, audits, and quality systems will help strengthen processes that support world-class aviation products.
Your work will directly contribute to operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and mission-critical quality standards.
Develop partnerships with senior leaders, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), customers, and internal quality teams to drive proactive quality strategies
Support both strategic and tactical initiatives focused on quality, cost, and schedule performance
Generate and lead CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) and CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) projects to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Lead and monitor Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and resolutions
Facilitate internal and customer-required First Article Inspection (FAI) reviews
Prepare for and participate in customer, regulatory, third-party, and internal audits
Translate system and contractual requirements into compliant manufacturing and inspection processes
Analyze quality metrics and present findings to leadership, peers, and customers
Support risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives across operations
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of relevant quality engineering experience
Hands-on experience with AS9100 Quality Management Systems
Experience leading failure analysis, root cause analysis, CAPA, and preventative action efforts
Experience supporting manufacturing and/or design processes with technical quality expertise
Six Sigma, Lean, and/or ASQ certifications
Experience reviewing Purchase Orders, customer drawings, and Corrective Action Requests (CARs)
Experience working directly with customers and leading customer audits
Experience with formal Change Board reviews and approvals
Strong judgment and decision-making skills
Experience in risk mitigation and opportunity management
Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspections
Experience with APQP, PPAP, Process Certification, or similar quality systems
Proficiency with 8D, 5 Whys, SPC analysis, and other quality tools
Strong leadership skills with ability to guide cross-functional teams
Ability to analyze and communicate complex data effectively
