Mechanical Engineer

Description:
What You’ll Do 

Design and model mechanical components and assemblies, including motors, actuators, geartrains, shafts, housings, and interfaces 

Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, BOMs, and tolerance schemes 

Perform material and finish selection, structural and stress analysis, and tolerance stack-up analysis 

Design for durability, manufacturability, assembly, and long-term reliability 

Contribute to geartrain systems, bearing selection, sealing approaches, and lubrication strategies 

Support FMEA, MTBF/reliability analysis, and continuous design improvement efforts 

Participate in prototype builds, qualification and environmental testing, and root-cause investigations 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering 

Interface directly with customers to resolve technical challenges and refine product requirements 

Support pilot builds, production transition, sustaining engineering, and product enhancements 

Integrate mechanical systems with motors, sensors, drives, and control components 

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 

5–7 years of experience in electromechanical actuator or high-reliability product design 

Strong background in geartrain design, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability 

Experience supporting full product lifecycle (concept through release and sustaining engineering) 

Hands-on experience with prototyping, troubleshooting, and cross-functional product development 

Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills 

Willingness to support both new development and sustaining work 

Must meet U.S. Person requirements for export control compliance 

Preferred Qualifications 

Knowledge of DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 standards 

Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Nastran, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, and document control systems 

Familiarity with Ansys or similar structural, thermal, or multiphysics analysis tools 

Experience with electric motors, actuators, rotating equipment, or aerospace hardware 

Background in finish selection, environmental considerations, reliability analysis, and qualification testing 

Experience working in high-reliability aerospace, defense, or industrial environments
