Payload Systems Design Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aviation industry to find a talented Payloads Design Engineer for an exciting opportunity in North Charleston, SC. In this role, you’ll help develop and support critical aircraft interior systems such as stow bins, closets, partitions, headers, wiring systems, and more. From concept through certification and production, your work will directly contribute to creating safe, efficient, and industry-leading aircraft interiors.
As a Payloads Design Engineer, you will play a key role across the full product lifecycle by:
Assisting in the development, integration, and documentation of structural and interior payload system requirements
Supporting system and component testing to validate performance and compliance requirements
Managing supplier coordination, production support, and design optimization efforts
Providing engineering support on the production floor during first-of or complex builds
Developing and improving design processes, tools, and analysis methods
Investigating emerging technologies and future aircraft interior concepts
Creating, maintaining, and modifying component designs using 3D CAD tools
Collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to meet program goals
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
2+ years of related engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
2+ years of experience using 3D CAD modeling tools such as CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, SketchUp, Pro-E, 3DX, or similar
Experience working in cross-functional engineering and production environments
2+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, design, or engineering release processes
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to meet project deadlines and deliver to plan
Familiarity with FAA Title 14 Part 25, EASA regulations, or equivalent certification standards
