Structures Engineer – Aviation (12-Month Consultant Role)

Wichita, KS | $125/hr | First Shift (Mon–Fri, 8AM–5PM)

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading name in the aviation industry to bring on a Structures Engineer who will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term safety, durability, and performance of advanced aircraft. This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute directly to both legacy fleet support and next-generation aircraft enhancements—helping ensure airframes remain structurally sound across their full operational life.


Role Impact

As a Structures / Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer, you will be responsible for safeguarding the structural integrity of aircraft throughout their lifecycle. Your work will directly influence aircraft safety, reliability, and continued airworthiness—supporting everything from in-service fleet performance to ongoing product improvements and aftermarket enhancements.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced aerospace environment and is confident working across both technical analysis and cross-functional customer support.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Perform structural analysis supporting both legacy aircraft and ongoing production programs
  • Evaluate fatigue and damage tolerance characteristics to ensure long-term airframe durability
  • Support static and dynamic loads development and validation efforts
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to assess structural performance and safety margins
  • Investigate and resolve in-service structural issues in coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with production, design, and customer teams to support aircraft modifications and enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, certification requirements, and safety regulations
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying scope and complexity
  • Provide technical documentation and clear communication to support engineering decisions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in military and/or civil aircraft structures
  • Strong experience in structural analysis techniques, including FEA and loads development
  • Solid understanding of aircraft design, materials, and production methods
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering projects
  • Professional, accountable, and detail-oriented approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aircraft Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis techniques
  • Prior experience supporting both OEM and in-service aircraft programs
  • Strong background working in cross-functional or customer-facing engineering environments

Pay Details: $125.00 per hour
