Airworthiness & Regulatory Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Airworthiness & Regulatory Engineer to support a leader in the aviation industry in Everett, WA. As a senior member of the Safety & Compliance Investigations team, you will lead critical efforts to identify root causes, resolve compliance concerns, and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence. Your expertise will help maintain the highest standards of certification and operational safety.
Lead detailed Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations involving regulatory compliance matters, safety findings, and airworthiness concerns.
Guide cross-functional engineering teams including Systems, Structures, Payloads, and Propulsion through structured problem-solving processes.
Develop comprehensive investigation plans, define problem statements, identify systemic root causes, and recommend effective corrective actions.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, executive leadership, suppliers, and regulatory representatives to ensure alignment and timely resolution.
Partner with Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA) teams to ensure investigation documentation meets regulatory expectations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for processes, tools, and future compliance readiness.
Communicate technical findings clearly to both engineering and non-technical audiences.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
9+ years of related engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects
Ability to work onsite in Everett, WA
Experience using RCCA tools such as 5-Whys, Fishbone, or structured problem-solving models
Knowledge of commercial aircraft operations, certification, and safety procedures
Familiarity with FAA Regulatory Compliance and ODA procedures
Experience working directly with FAA or other regulatory agencies
Background in aircraft systems design, analysis, or integration (Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, Fuel Systems, etc.)
Pilot’s License or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
