Chipton-Ross is seeking 6 Engineering Operations Project Managers (Level 6) for a contract opportunity in North Charleston, SC.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • Proficient with Jira for backlog management, sprint/release planning, roadmap creation, issue tracking, reporting and large-scale rollout/configuration. • Extensive experience with Agile project management applied at scale (e.g., scaling frameworks, cross-team Agile coordination). • Proven experience leading complex, multi-discipline engineering projects across the full airplane value stream: development, production, certification, and fleet support. • Strong background in non-recurring and recurring program activities, readiness assessments, and change management. • Demonstrated history of servant leadership with experience mentoring and coaching technical teams. •Strong schedule development and analysis skills (integrated master schedules, critical path analysis, variance/trend/impact assessments). • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement across all levels. •Risk management and mitigation planning experience with documented successful recoveries.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Engineering Operations Project Manager will lead cross-functional engineering and technician teams supporting the 787 airplane-level integration efforts. This person ensures disciplined application of engineering processes (enterprise gated development, non-recurring product development, readiness levels, change management) and synchronizes engineering activities with program and business objectives across development, production, certification and fleet support. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who mentors teammates, fosters diversity and inclusion, drives engineering excellence and safety, and has deep experience with Agile project management at scale and with Jira as the tool of choice. Duties may include (but are not limited to): • Develop, maintain and integrate project and program plans across functional areas to meet scope, schedule, quality and cost objectives from initiation through closeout. • Prepare, analyze and report schedule metrics, trend/variance/impact analyses, risk assessments and recovery plans. • Lead creation and maintenance of integrated plans and schedules for complex programs and change-driven initiatives. • Manage change control, baseline updates, and ensure consistent application of engineering processes across IPTs and supporting functions. • Serve as primary project contact for stakeholders; coordinate commitments and communicate status, decisions and best practices. • Facilitate cross-functional integration, removing impediments and aligning resources to program priorities. • Mentor and coach engineers and technicians; cultivate a culture of safety, technical leadership and continuous improvement. • Apply industry standard project management practices, tools and reports; close out projects and document lessons learned; transition deliverables to customers with full supporting documentation. • Servant leadership mindset: facilitates others’ success, removes barriers, and leads by example. • Strong collaborator: builds trust across engineering, production, certification and customer support organizations. • Champion for diversity, equity and inclusion; fosters a respectful environment where different perspectives are valued. • Commitment to engineering excellence, safety-first thinking, and continuous learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent certification. • Experience working on commercial airplane programs (preferably 787 or similar) or in aerospace systems integration. • Familiarity with enterprise gated development processes and readiness level frameworks. • Experience with additional tools such as Confluence, Portfolio for Jira/Advanced Roadmaps, MS Project or Primavera. • Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and institutionalizing best practices across s IPTs. • Leadership & Cultural Fit • Previous Commercial Aerospace experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Accredited Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 8 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAVEL: Less than 10% travel; Possibly Puget Sound, WA.
WORK HOURS: FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
