As a CNC Programmer, you’ll transform engineering designs into high-performance machining programs that produce mission-critical aerospace components. Your expertise in tool paths, machining strategy, and CAD/CAM software will directly impact efficiency, quality, and innovation on the shop floor.
What You’ll Do Every Day
In this high-impact role, you’ll bridge engineering and manufacturing to deliver precision at scale:
Develop CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis high-speed machining centers
Interpret customer designs, blueprints, and specifications to define machining requirements
Optimize cutter paths to maximize machine efficiency and reduce cycle times
Program and set up parts ranging from simple to highly complex assemblies
Utilize industry-leading tools like Catia V5, Vericut, and Mastercam
Design tooling and support manufacturing process improvements
Verify and simulate programs using verification software
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Planning teams
Prepare detailed documentation outlining machining sequences and processes
Troubleshoot programming and machining challenges to ensure quality outcomes
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow all PPE requirements
Work Environment
High exposure to computer-based programming work
Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms
Occasional shop floor interaction
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong understanding of blueprints, machining processes, and manufacturing principles
Knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and material removal methods
Proficiency in CAD/CAM programming for 3- and 4-axis machining (5-axis for higher levels)
Solid math, reading, and technical communication skills
Ability to plan detailed machining sequences and documentation
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications (Based on Level)
Level I (Entry-Level Programmer):
2–3 years of CNC machining or operator experience
Familiarity with machine codes and CAD/CAM software
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Level II (Experienced Programmer):
5+ years CNC programming experience
3–5 years manufacturing experience
Experience programming complex 5-axis parts and tooling design
Familiarity with SPC, Vericut, and post-processing software
Certified training in Catia V5 or equivalent
Level III (Senior Programmer):
10+ years CNC programming experience
Advanced expertise in multi-axis machining and tooling design
Ability to model parts from 2D drawings and loft data
Experience mentoring programmers and collaborating across departments
Proven ability to optimize processes and support production planning
