As a CMM Operator, you play a critical role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of aerospace components. Your work verifies that every part meets exact specifications—supporting safety, compliance, and performance in one of the most demanding industries in the world.
What You’ll Do Every Day
You’ll be hands-on with advanced measurement technology, ensuring precision across production:
Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment to inspect components against specifications
Install, set up, and run CMM programs to support production needs
Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing plans, and CAD/CATIA models
Select probes, calibrate equipment, and perform accurate setup procedures
Position and secure parts on surface plates without damage
Execute measurement routines and record dimensional data
Analyze results, compare to tolerances, and identify discrepancies
Perform manual inspections to validate questionable results
Document non-conforming conditions per established procedures
Conduct routine maintenance, including cleaning and surface plate care
Troubleshoot basic CMM or measurement issues and escalate when needed
Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace while adhering to PPE requirements
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Combination of shop floor and inspection environment
Prolonged standing, bending, crouching, and repetitive motion
Exposure to machine noise and metal dust
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (more with assistance)
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Working knowledge of CMM equipment and supporting software
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong math skills and familiarity with precision measuring tools
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year experience operating CMM or portable CMM equipment
Associate degree, technical certification, or completed apprenticeship
Experience with CAD or CATIA for measurement support
Familiarity with quality inspection processes in manufacturing or aerospace environments
