Summary:
Perform high-mix SMT and through-hole soldering on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with work orders, engineering drawings, and IPC standards
Remove, replace, and rework components, including bottom-terminated devices (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs), using hot-air tools, hot plates, reflow ovens, and specialized rework stations
Conduct X-ray inspections of reworked components to evaluate solder joint integrity and document results
Perform board-level verification through visual inspection, AOI, and X-ray, along with functional testing to ensure compliance with specifications
Interpret and follow engineering change orders (ECOs) and bills of materials (BOMs); apply build-to-print practices as required
Maintain cleanroom and ESD-controlled environments; monitor and record equipment parameters (e.g., temperature, airflow)
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements
Assist in training and mentoring junior assemblers
Requirements:
Must pass a required medical exam as outlined in the supplier guidelines
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work in a regulated environment
Extensive, hands-on experience in SMT and through-hole soldering in a manufacturing environment
Proven expertise in rework and repair of complex electronic assemblies, including bottom-terminated components
Strong understanding of IPC standards and electronic assembly processes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and ECOs
Ability to read and write English
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with X-ray inspection systems and AOI equipment
Prior experience in aerospace or defense electronics manufacturing
IPC certifications (current or previous)
