Role Summary & Impact

As an Assembly Mechanic, you will play a vital role in building and verifying structural and system components that meet strict aerospace standards. Your work ensures that every part, assembly, and installation meets exact engineering specifications—directly contributing to aircraft safety, reliability, and performance.

You’ll operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where precision and teamwork drive success, supporting production flow and mentoring others while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, seal, rig, and inspect structural and system components using engineering drawings and specifications
• Perform functional testing to ensure proper fit, form, and function of assemblies
• Interpret work instructions, blueprints, charts, and technical documents to complete tasks accurately
• Use precision measuring tools and shop mathematics to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Operate and set up advanced fastening equipment, including CNC and automated systems
• Identify and document discrepancies, initiating corrective actions when needed
• Maintain tooling and equipment certification in accordance with procedures
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
• Move materials and assemblies through production processes using assigned equipment
• Support production flow by assisting and training team members across skill levels
• Conduct inspections, including first article reviews, and maintain detailed quality records
• Ensure compliance with engineering, process, and quality control standards

Required Qualifications

• 11+ years of experience in structures or sheet metal assembly
• Proven expertise in aircraft assembly, installation, and inspection processes
• Ability to pass a plate test (required for project qualification)
• Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools and assembly techniques
• Experience working from technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
• Ability to work any assigned shift, including overtime and weekends as needed
• Must be available for immediate start

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC fastening equipment such as gantry riveters, C-frames, or similar systems
• Background in aerospace manufacturing environments
• Experience with:
  • Fuel cell sealing
  • Pressure and vacuum testing
  • Precision bench assembly
• Inspection certification or experience with quality assurance processes
• Demonstrated ability to mentor or train junior team members
