Summary:
Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish overall system design
Design, maintain, and modify structural and payload components using 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks)
Generate and release detailed product definitions for engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers across the product lifecycle
Lead performance analysis, integration activities, and testing to validate and verify systems meet requirements and specifications
Conduct and support structural analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal, etc.) as required
Manage supplier activities including design, development, testing, and production support
Collaborate with suppliers to optimize designs and ensure alignment with program cost, schedule, and performance goals
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for design or test-related issues
Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and materials for future product development
Participate in and lead design reviews (PDR, CDR) and technical evaluations
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced engineering environment
Requirements:
Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance required (not required to start)
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
Experience in structural and/or payload design engineering
Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and drawing release processes
Knowledge of structural analysis principles (stress, fatigue, materials, etc.)
Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and configuration control
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Must be a U.S. citizen to comply with security clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in aerospace or defense industry
Familiarity with composite materials and lightweight structures
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus)
Experience supporting qualification and certification testing
Knowledge of aircraft interiors or payload integration systems
Experience working with external suppliers and global teams
Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and producibility
