Role Summary & Impact

As a Senior FPGA Verification Engineer, you will play a key role in the verification, integration, and testing of FPGA-based avionics systems within a DO-254 DAL-A certified environment. Your work ensures the reliability, safety, and performance of mission-critical display and computing technologies used in modern aviation systems.

Working in a collaborative engineering lab environment, you will help develop and execute advanced verification strategies that directly support the integrity of aerospace electronic systems operating at the highest safety standards in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop DO-254 DAL-A compliant verification cases, procedures, and supporting artifacts
• Perform FPGA verification using inspection, analysis, and structured test methods
• Design and execute on-target FPGA hardware tests in a lab environment
• Support integration and validation of FPGA systems on hardware platforms
• Conduct peer reviews across the product development lifecycle
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and program management
• Utilize lab test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
• Support scripting, automation, and test development using tools such as Python, C/C++, and Linux-based environments

This is a hybrid role based in Cedar Rapids, IA, requiring 3–5 days per week onsite in a lab environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field with 5+ years of experience
  OR Advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with FPGA verification and hardware integration
• Experience using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.)
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages (Python, C/C++, Perl, or Visual Basic)
• Experience with VHDL
• Familiarity with revision control systems (e.g., Subversion, Jira)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DO-254 design assurance processes for FPGA development
• Familiarity with SystemVerilog and UVM
• Experience with UVM constrained random verification methodologies
• Prior work in safety-critical or aerospace avionics systems
• Experience collaborating with domestic and international engineering teams
• Strong background in structured verification and validation processes
