Summary:
Perform drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
Locate blind holes and install new structural items on existing aircraft structures.
Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures per standard repair processes.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications/repairs.
Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modifications and repairs.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components; perform sheet metal/structural modifications and basic non-complex electrical system checks.
Use specialized aircraft tools (torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and shears, etc.).
Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate parts or discrepancy requests.
Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits.
Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 lbs.
Apply Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems to maintain a safe work environment.
Collaborate with mechanics, avionics, and electronics teams to meet cost and schedule targets.
Comply with site tooling and FOD procedures; complete assessments as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
4+ years working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
4+ years interpreting schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs.
4+ years using structural hand tools (drills, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, rivet guns).
4+ years installing heavy structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) on aircraft.
Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, to support mission requirements.
Work in confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders, lift up to 35 lbs; occasional two-person lifts over 50 lbs.
Frequent walking, standing, balancing, overhead reaching, and occasional climbing (3 12 ft).
Rotate head/neck, sit, crawl, squat, bend/stoop, lie down, and operate foot controls for extended periods.
Use PPE for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms; pass visual acuity and color perception tests.
Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials safely.
Frequent exposure to noise and elevated platforms; occasional contact with metals.
Maintain required certifications and training.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Skills:
Experience in heavy aircraft maintenance (C-17 or depot level).
Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.
Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and riding electric elevating equipment.
