Mechanical Design Engineer IV
Location: Greenville, SC (onsite)
Pay Rate: $61.70 per hour (open to negotiate based on experience)
PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer IV to join our team in support of a major leader in the global energy industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact engineering programs that drive performance, quality, and innovation across critical product lines.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer IV, you will serve as a key technical contributor supporting the development, improvement, and manufacturability of advanced mechanical components. Your work will directly influence production quality, supply chain performance, and the successful qualification of critical hardware used in demanding energy applications.
In this role, you will:
Provide mechanical design support across global supply chain and cross‑functional teams, ensuring hardware meets performance, quality, and manufacturability expectations.
Lead design‑for‑manufacturability efforts and apply lean engineering methodologies to enhance product flow and reduce defects.
Conduct engineering assessments to disposition hardware non‑conformances, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Support process qualifications, equipment validations, and technical approval of new or updated manufacturing processes.
Apply mechanical engineering expertise to improve component functionality, reduce cost, and optimize design solutions.
Engage in supplier‑focused improvement activities, including Kaizens and Lean Action Workouts.
Contribute to technology development involving castings, coatings, machining, precision drilling, and other manufacturing special processes.
Foster strong collaboration within global engineering teams while promoting operational excellence and a quality‑driven mindset.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) from an accredited institution
5–7+ years of mechanical design engineering experience
Experience supporting manufacturing operations and reviewing/dispositioning non‑conforming hardware
Proficiency with NX, GD&T, ANSYS, and engineering documentation standards
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional teamwork skills
Ability to adapt quickly within a dynamic engineering environment
Experience with gas turbines, rotating machinery, or hot gas path components
Background in advanced manufacturing processes (casting, coatings, machining, additive manufacturing, etc.)
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and statistical process control
Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence technical stakeholders
