Summary:
Support development, implementation, and subsystem-level testing of FTS and AFSS
Collaborate with range safety personnel to review and approve FTS and AFSS documentation
Support design, procurement, and build of AFSS Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems
Contribute to flight test planning for integrated missions (carrier aircraft + pylon + hypersonic vehicle)
Develop FTS and AFSS technical requirements in coordination with range safety
Contribute to range testing coordination
Participate in design reviews throughout vehicle system development
Evaluate risks and develop risk mitigation plans
Provide regular updates to the Avionics Chief Engineer and FTS/AFSS PM (weekly/monthly)
Support integration of complex aerospace systems
Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments
Requirements:
Level II: Bachelor s degree (B.S.) + 2 5 years engineering experience
Senior Level: Bachelor s degree (B.S.) + 5 10 years engineering experience (
Staff Level: Bachelor s degree (B.S.) + 10 20 years engineering experience
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable
Engineering programming tools (e.g., MATLAB)
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Configuration management systems (Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, or equivalent)
Experience in one or more of these areas: electrical engineering, aircraft integration, or launch vehicle integration
Hands-on experience with FTS and/or AFSS components (receivers, batteries, safe-and-arm devices, ordnance, initiators)
Experience architecting avionics systems with COTS or in-house hardware
Familiarity with RCC-319 & RCC-324 requirements
Knowledge of Maximum Predicted Environments, Acceptance Testing, and Qualification Testing
Experience in technical aerospace leadership, including working with sub-contractors
Test planning and execution experience
Risk management experience
Ability to communicate technical challenges clearly to varied audiences
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Occasional travel (
