Software Quality Engineer

Your expertise in standards such as DO 178 and DO 254 will ensure that delivered software meets stringent aviation regulatory requirements and maintains the highest levels of safety and performance.

Job Title: Software Quality Engineer
Job Type: Full Time; Consultant (12 month assignment)
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $60–$90 per hour
Monitor all phases of the software development process to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Interface daily with systems engineers, software developers, test teams, evaluation personnel, and project managers.
Review and approve system, software, and test requirements, design documents, verification activities, and test procedures.
Assess compliance with RTCA DO 178C, DO 254, SAE ARP 4754, MIL STD 498, and related standards.
Participate in software change control boards and provide expert insight into process impacts.
Identify program risks and align activities with milestone schedules.
Conduct audits, process reviews, and oversight of software suppliers.
Support government and FAA project requirements.
Mentor and train junior SQA team members.
Travel as needed to support program audits and supplier evaluations.
Applicants must have the following to be considered:
10+ years of experience with DO 178 or DO 254 with clearly demonstrated Software Quality Assurance (SQA) work.
Minimum 11 years of directly related aerospace or defense software process experience.
Experience working with government and/or FAA regulated software projects.
Strong understanding of audit techniques, software development methods, and testing methodologies.
Ability to interpret schematic drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Experience in software requirements development.
Background in software design and coding (C/C++, Ada, or other embedded languages).
Knowledge of embedded software/hardware verification.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience auditing supplier software processes.
Familiarity with safety critical and mission critical systems in aerospace.
Prior experience training or mentoring software engineers or auditors.
