Structures Mechanic
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace innovator to hire a Structures Mechanic supporting the C 17 Program in San Antonio, TX. As a Structures Mechanic, you will perform hands on structural repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications on C 17 aircraft components and systems. Your work directly supports aircraft readiness, safety, and operational capability—making you an essential part of a high impact aerospace maintenance team.
Job Title: Structures Mechanic
Job Type: Full Time; Consultant (6 month assignment)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Variable 1st & 2nd Shifts based on business needs
Pay Rate: $41.00/hr (includes base rate + H&W)
Troubleshoot aircraft structural, mechanical, landing gear, control surface, and pneudraulic system issues.
Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, installation, and removal on critical structural components.
Repair and rebuild aircraft structures including wings, fuselage, rigging, and flight control components.
Conduct structural modifications using sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation techniques.
Use hand and power tools, including rivet guns, shears, brakes, welders, drills, torque wrenches, tensiometers, micrometers, and more.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, service bulletins, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
Conduct 100 hour, progressive, periodic, and other scheduled inspections.
Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, wear, corrosion, and foreign object damage.
Use aircraft data systems to submit parts requests and discrepancy reports.
Assist cross functional teams to meet cost and schedule targets.
Maintain required certifications and follow Hazardous Energy, FOD, and safety procedures.
Perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting ~35 lbs.
Successfully complete required assessments after training.
1+ year of experience working with non porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
1+ year reading and interpreting schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs.
1+ year using structures hand tools (drills, rivet guns, countersink cages, hole finders, etc.).
Ability to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to meet all physical requirements listed (climbing, lifting, PPE use, confined space work, etc.).
Regular and predictable attendance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience with C 17 Depot Level Maintenance.
Familiarity working with titanium aircraft structures.
Experience operating forklifts, mobile cranes, or elevating equipment.
