PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an Associate Background Screening and Adjudication Assistant for a 12 month consulting assignment with a leading aerospace organization in Mesa, AZ. In this essential role, you’ll help ensure that every hiring decision meets rigorous compliance, safety, and security standards—directly contributing to the trust and reliability behind some of the world’s most important aerospace programs.
Location: Mesa, AZ
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (8:30 AM–5:00 PM)
Pay Rate: Starting at $33.45 per hour
As an Associate Background Screening and Adjudication Assistant, you’ll evaluate background checks, verify sensitive information, and support internal partners to ensure all screening activities follow legal and organizational guidelines. You will be a critical part of the hiring process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and fairness while working in a fast paced, detail focused environment.
Evaluate candidate background checks, including criminal history, employment verification, education verification, and credit reports.
Collect and analyze information from internal systems and external agencies to identify discrepancies or issues.
Ensure all screening reports comply with company policies and federal/state legal requirements.
Verify application details, public records, and documented information to confirm candidates meet hiring standards.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of all background screening documentation.
Communicate professionally with candidates and internal partners regarding screening steps, follow ups, and required documentation.
Assist with resolving incomplete or conflicting information during the background review process.
Stay current on best practices and evolving legal guidelines within the background screening industry.
Support the team manager with administrative and project based tasks as needed.
1+ years of experience in background screening and/or investigations.
1+ years managing a caseload and using electronic databases to track and retrieve information.
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional/military experience.
Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Experience in Human Resources or with the criminal justice system.
Familiarity with the stages of adjudication and background review processes.
Experience handling confidential, sensitive, or personally identifiable information.
Understanding of EEOC guidelines relevant to background screening.
Awareness of state and federal employment law limitations.
