Safety & Airworthiness Specialist
Location: Everett, WA
Type: Full-Time, Consultant (9-Month Assignment)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 1st Shift (8 AM–4 PM)
Pay Rate: $51 - $61/Hour
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Safety & Airworthiness Specialist to support a leading organization in the aerospace industry. In this role, you will directly influence the safety, airworthiness, and regulatory integrity of advanced aerospace products. Your work ensures that aircraft and aviation systems meet rigorous certification and safety expectations—impacting not just compliance, but the future of global air operations.
Develop, maintain, and communicate strategies and policies that enhance product and operational safety.
Research and analyze safety and regulatory data, trends, and developments to determine their impact on aerospace products and services.
Apply specialized expertise (airspace operations, human factors, safety management, air navigation, regulatory policy, etc.) to shape airworthiness initiatives.
Collaborate with customers, regulators, and industry partners to identify safety issues and support solution development.
Address technical safety and regulatory inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Support investigations involving organizational safety factors and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in the deployment and implementation of safety standards, policies, and regulatory guidance.
Advocate for safety and regulatory enhancements within the organization and across industry channels.
Provide technical training and guidance on moderately complex airworthiness topics.
Drive first-pass quality for Certification Plans (CPs) through creation, review, and approval.
Coordinate CP priorities aligned with technical test timelines (Qualification, Ground, Flight, etc.).
Collaborate with engineering teams, regulatory administrators, and certification authorities.
Maintain strict adherence to guidelines from Regulatory Administration and Airworthiness groups.
Update project status in Project Planner and track planning events tied to each CP.
Communicate regular progress updates to leads and management.
Strong understanding of certification processes.
Working knowledge of avionic systems.
FAA experience or in-depth familiarity with FAA regulations.
Education/experience typically acquired through:
Bachelor’s degree + 6+ years of related experience
Master’s + 4 years of related experience
10+ years of directly related professional experience
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering and regulatory teams.
Background in human factors, airspace operations, safety management, or regulatory policy.
Strong project management and documentation skills.
