PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an Aircraft Interior Specialist to support a major aerospace leader in North Charleston, SC. In this role, you will bring precision, craftsmanship, and technical expertise to the installation and repair of decorative aircraft interior components. Your work directly contributes to passenger comfort, safety, and the overall delivery quality of world?class commercial aircraft.
As an Aircraft Interior Specialist, you will use your foundational training and hands-on skills to perform interior repair, installation, and cosmetic rework throughout various stages of aircraft assembly. Daily responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
Perform decorative interior repairs using fiberglass, plastics, composites, adhesives, solvents, paints, and specialty finishes.
Interpret and follow electronic technical instructions, drawings, blueprints, and specifications to select correct materials, tools, and procedures.
Apply proper surface preparation, cleaning, masking, primer, and coating techniques to achieve high-quality finishes.
Troubleshoot non-standard work processes and develop solutions for complex interior repair challenges.
Operate mechanical lifts and utilize standard hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and power tools safely.
Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and regulatory standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, FOD free work area and uphold exemplary housekeeping standards.
Work independently with limited direction while coordinating professionally with internal teams and external partners.
Perform work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and both indoor and outdoor environments.
Meet physical requirements including lifting 10–35 lbs., climbing, reaching, kneeling, bending, twisting, and extended periods of standing or walking.
Complete 8–10 weeks of training plus 1 week of color match training (successful completion required).
High school diploma/GED required; vocational or Associate-level education is acceptable.
Minimum 1+ years experience in aerospace, manufacturing, fabrication, or decorative finishing (paints, laminates, vinyls, plastics).
Experience with aircraft interior adjustments, repairs, replacements, and cosmetic rework.
Ability to interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and blueprints in English.
Proficiency in file, sand, paint, laminate, and cosmetic rework processes (color and texture matching).
Ability to work variable shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) based on business needs.
Ability to meet all physical requirements listed in the job description.
Ability to work with high hazard chemicals using provided PPE.
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., Confined Space, Fall Protection).
Must pass onsite color vision screening (completed after onboarding).
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
3+ years related aerospace, manufacturing, or military experience.
3+ years experience working in aircraft cabin interiors (galleys, lavatories, stowage, premium seating, liners, etc.).
Advanced experience in decorative finishing, cosmetic repair, and interior system installations.
