Aircraft Painter
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to support a major aerospace program in San Antonio, TX. As an Aircraft Painter, you will be part of a skilled team responsible for preparing and coating aircraft surfaces with precision, quality, and safety. Your expertise will support the integrity, performance, and appearance of aircraft systems, ensuring they meet rigorous aerospace standards. This role is hands?on, fast?paced, and mission?driven—ideal for individuals passionate about technical workmanship.
• Prepare aircraft parts and surfaces for paint application, including sanding, masking, mixing materials, and working with chemicals.
• Apply coatings such as paint, epoxy, lacquer, resin, and more using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other tools.
• Remove old paint using liquid remover, scrapers, and approved processes.
• Smooth and roughen surfaces using sandpaper, steel wool, and acid solutions to ensure proper adhesion.
• Mask and protect areas not being painted; apply stencils, insignias, letters, and numerals as required.
• Read and interpret DPS specifications, engineering drawings, and technical work instructions.
• Collaborate with team members to complete complex assignments safely and efficiently.
• Handle and properly dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain required certifications and adhere to all safety protocols, including fall protection.
This is a highly physical role requiring:
• Lifting up to 35 pounds
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, and reaching overhead
• Use of ladders, platforms, and fall?protection equipment
• Regular exposure to chemicals, noise, solvents, and elevated work areas
• Use of PPE for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms
• 1+ years of experience performing aircraft painting or similar duties (sanding, taping, mixing materials, spraying).
• Experience reading blueprints and technical document specifications.
• Experience working at heights and using fall?protection equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Fall Protection Certification (OSHA 1926, 191066, 1910 Subpart D).
• Ability to work rotating shifts based on business needs.
• Consistent and reliable attendance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
• 1+ years of experience working on military or commercial aircraft platforms.
• Experience working with hazardous chemicals.
• Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12 months)
• Location: San Antonio, TX
• Schedule: Monday–Friday; must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift as business needs change
• Pay Rate: $38.88/hr ($33.79/hr base + $5.09/hr H&W)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Work Environment: Onsite, hands?on aircraft environment
