PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire a skilled Airframe Stress Analysis Engineer to support the development of advanced aircraft structures. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-performance airframe designs, applying advanced structural analysis techniques to ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and efficiency.
As an Airframe Stress Analysis Engineer, you will play a critical role in analyzing and validating structural components made from advanced composites and metallic materials. Your work will directly contribute to the performance and integrity of next-generation aerospace platforms.
Role Overview
The Airframe Stress Analysis Engineer performs detailed structural analysis to support the design and development of aircraft airframes. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will apply analytical methods, finite element modeling, and engineering principles to evaluate structural performance and ensure designs meet rigorous aerospace safety and reliability standards.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Support airframe structural designs through trade studies, research, and engineering analysis
Perform detailed analysis of composite and metallic aircraft structures using classical hand calculations and finite element tools
Conduct static stress analysis using industry-standard methods such as Bruhn, Roark, Flabel, and OEM structural manuals
Apply scientific and mathematical models to predict structural performance including stress, strength, fatigue life, stiffness, and weight optimization
Develop and evaluate alternative design solutions to meet performance and structural requirements
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and specialty teams to resolve technical challenges
Support product acceptance procedures and structural reliability activities, including failure analysis
Contribute to project milestones by reviewing drawings, schematics, system layouts, and material requirements
Execute engineering tasks while meeting cost, schedule, and program requirements
Collaborate with suppliers and project partners to support structural design activities
Assist with structural test programs, including test plan development, execution, and reporting
Prepare and present engineering analysis, recommendations, and design plans to leadership and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on structural analysis preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of structural analysis experience
Experience performing structural analysis of aircraft structures using classical hand calculations and FEA tools
Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis tools such as MSC NASTRAN and Altair HyperMesh
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to structural design and analysis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Degree focus in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with structural analysis specialization
Experience in helicopter or tiltrotor aircraft structural design
Experience working with composite airframe structures
Experience supporting structural testing, certification, or validation activities
Experience collaborating with suppliers and external partners on structural design programs
