PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Crew & Equipment Design Engineer supporting advanced aircraft programs, including current large cabin aircraft, special missions platforms, and new product development initiatives. This is a high-impact engineering role where your expertise will contribute directly to the design and integration of critical aircraft systems.
In this position, you will guide complex engineering efforts, develop innovative design solutions, and help ensure that crew equipment systems and related structures meet the highest standards for safety, performance, and manufacturability. Your work will support the continued advancement of cutting-edge aircraft programs.
The Crew & Equipment Design Engineer plays a key role in guiding the successful completion of major engineering initiatives related to crew equipment systems and installations. Working within a combined engineering team responsible for Crew & Equipment and Doors systems, you will support multiple aircraft programs with a primary focus on crew equipment design for current large cabin aircraft.
This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to independently resolve complex engineering challenges, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
Design and develop crew equipment installations and secondary structural components for aircraft programs
Create and maintain 2D drawings, drafting documentation, and 3D models using CATIA V5 and SmarTeam
Resolve complex engineering challenges by selecting appropriate design methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria
Support engineering programs across current large cabin aircraft, special missions platforms, and new product development
Develop design solutions that balance technical performance, cost, and program schedules
Serve as a technical resource for engineering teams and provide guidance on complex design challenges
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering disciplines, and suppliers
Develop and contribute to engineering standards, design guides, and best practices
Ensure design solutions align with certification, qualification, and production requirements
Stay current on new technologies and engineering developments to recommend improvements that enhance product quality and performance
Participate in technical reviews and engineering investigations to support program objectives
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10 years of experience in a specific engineering discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree
Strong experience in secondary structure design and electrical component installation
Proficiency with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam
Experience creating 2D drawings and drafting documentation
Ability to independently resolve complex engineering problems and provide authoritative technical guidance
Strong collaboration and communication skills for working across engineering and manufacturing teams
Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field
Experience supporting aircraft crew equipment systems or similar aircraft interior/structural installations
Experience with qualification or certification documentation and reports
Knowledge of insulation systems, flammability requirements, composites, closeouts, and molded panels
Experience coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
Hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, or prototype environments
